Additionally, we introduced the twin classes for the first time, offering a fresh and unique in-game experience. We released several new updates, including the “Mountain of Eternal Winter” expansion and the new co-op dungeon, Atoraxxion: Yolunakia.
In 2022, we challenged ourselves to provide new and enjoyable content to our adventurers. I believe that all these updates have accumulated over time, leading to the creation of today's Black Desert. Since its launch, we have consistently updated Black Desert every week with new content that we hope adventurers will enjoy in the following week's update. It is their unwavering support that has enabled Black Desert to continue its journey for this long. To celebrate the game's seventh anniversary and with the Land of the Morning Light expansion coming out soon, we interviewed Executive Producer Jaehee Kim to check out what's coming next to this popular MMORPG.įirstly, can you talk about the main challenges and learnings from the last year of Black Desert?įirst, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Western adventurers who have been devotedly loving Black Desert for the past seven years. None of them have materialized yet, and Crimson Desert was even delayed indefinitely at some point, though Pearl Abyss is reportedly aiming to show it again later this year.īlack Desert, on the other hand, is still going strong by all accounts. #DokeV was initially introduced as an MMO, but we decided to move the game in a different direction and it's now a creature-collecting open world action-adventure.īut regardless of genre, we're going for fun, vibrant, and adventurous! 🦙☂️įor those who can’t wait until 2023 for DokeV, Nintendo has Pokemon Legends: Arceus coming out in January 2022, which is also an open-world creature-collector game - albeit one exclusive to Nintendo Switch - and has finally added the ability to ride Pokemon into battle.The South Korean developer also started working on a number of new projects, including the Black Desert spin-off Crimson Desert, the Pokémon-like creature collecting game DokeV, and the exosuit MMO shooter PLAN 8. Instead, it’s an open-world action-adventure - although it may possibly still have multiplayer elements, which Pearl Abyss doesn’t rule out. Pearl Abyss also confirmed that DokeV is no longer an MMO like its previous game Black Desert Online, which is how the game was originally announced. We'll release more details in the future 💙

The good news is that the team has at least confirmed DokeV would be coming to both PC and consoles, although what consoles the developer means is another matter - the game certainly looks good enough to be only on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and a 2023 release date would mean a lot more people would have new consoles by then. The press release is even less helpful, saying that the team “will announce its release window later.” No matter what, it’s going to be a long wait for any new fans eager to play the surprise star reveal of Gamescom.
Initial reports suggested that DokeV would release in 2022, but developer Pearl Abyss confirmed in a correction to VentureBeat’s article about the game that the team is targeting a release for sometime after 2022.
